Fazer Confectionery – Umbrella Branding & Brand Guidelines

Fazer is one of Finland’s best-known food companies, with a long heritage in confectionery and a portfolio of established brands.

The challenge was to develop a cohesive umbrella branding system that would unite the company’s confectionery products while retaining the individual character of each brand.

Working as a Senior Designer at Holmes & Marchant International in Marlow, I helped develop a flexible identity system built around Fazer’s iconic lettering. The approach was designed to work across the complete confectionery portfolio, including Karl Fazer Blue, Dumle, Geisha and Marianne.

A key consideration was achieving consistency without compromising the distinctive colours, graphics and established identities of individual products.

I also developed the comprehensive Brand Implementation Guidelines, defining the correct application of the Fazer identity across packaging formats, product ranges and marketing materials.

The result was a structured and adaptable branding system, designed to strengthen the Fazer corporate identity while preserving the recognition and individuality of its confectionery brands.
