Warminster Maltings — Website, Brand & Marketing Design
Creating a Traditional & Digital Presence for a Historic British Maltings
Warminster Maltings is one of the UK’s historic maltings, producing traditional floor-malted barley for breweries and distilleries around the world.
Juice Factory was commissioned to develop a new digital presence that reflected the heritage and quality of the business while providing a modern, accessible and engaging experience for customers.
The project brought together website design, brand development, photography, content and wider marketing communications.
Understanding the Brand
Warminster Maltings has a long and distinctive history, with traditional floor malting at the heart of the business.
The challenge was to communicate that heritage without making the brand feel dated.
The design needed to balance tradition with the modern needs of an international business supplying malt to breweries and distilleries.
Warminster Maltings Brand Identity
The use of the logo was inconsistent, the website and literature were outdated and didn’t really convey the history and services of Warminster Maltings. Several versions of the Warminster Maltings logo were being used. The very tradtional font which had been used on the exterior of the building for many years was tweaked. Then rolled out across all areas of marketing material.
Originally asked to create an advert and an email marketing post to promote the new management structure; it soon became apparent that “The Maltsters” required more help than originally thought. The whole range of marketing material needed to be pulled together with a uniform look.
Website Design
The new website was designed to make the company’s history, malting process, products and services easy to understand and explore.
Information was carefully structured to provide clear navigation for different audiences, from brewers and distillers to visitors interested in the history of traditional malting.
The responsive design ensures that the website works effectively across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

Film Production
Juice Factory has also produced a series of films for Warminster Maltings, documenting the complete process of traditional malting from start to finish.
The films take the viewer through the journey of the barley, from its delivery to the maltings, through steeping and germination, including the traditional ploughing of the green malt across the germination floors, before moving through kilning, crushing if required and finally packing the finished malt.
The films provided an engaging insight into the skill, craftsmanship and traditional processes behind Warminster Maltings’ products. Helping communicate the company’s heritage and expertise to both existing and potential customers. Four versions of the film were produced, including a version specifically adapted for the US market. Allowing Warminster Maltings to use the films as an important marketing and sales tool across different markets.
“Jasper Williams of Juice Factory has become an invaluable support for Warminster Maltings Ltd, Britain’s iconic and oldest working Maltings. In fact, I have come to regard Jasper as a uniquely important member of the Maltings team.
During the pandemic of 2020, Jasper has helped Warminster Maltings by setting up our Social Media channels. Promoting our business online, informing everyone we are still open for business has opened many new doors as well as re-connecting with lapsed customers. Combined with our regular newsletters and our new website, Warminster Maltings is in great shape”.
Tradeshows, Exhibitions & MaltingsFest
Juice Factory has also supported Warminster Maltings through its involvement in tradeshows, exhibitions and industry events, creating branded exhibition graphics and display panels that help bring the company’s identity and key messages to life in physical spaces.
One particular highlight has been MaltingsFest in Newton Abbot, where Warminster Maltings has been a principal sponsor. The annual festival celebrates independent brewing and brings together breweries, beer enthusiasts and businesses from across the South West.
Juice Factory has designed a number of branded panels and large-format graphics for the event, creating a strong visual presence for Warminster Maltings within the festival environment. The designs have been used to communicate the company’s role in the malting process and its connection with the breweries and beers being celebrated at the festival.
This work demonstrates how the Warminster Maltings brand can be translated beyond websites and printed literature into large-scale exhibition and event graphics, creating a consistent and recognisable presence wherever the company is represented.
Photography & Visual Content
Original photography was used throughout the website to capture the people, buildings, malting process and products.
Using photography created specifically for the project helped give the website an authentic visual identity rather than relying on generic imagery.
All of the malts were individually photographed to show the range and colour variations, shown at full size on the website.
Brand & Marketing Communications
The website formed part of a wider programme of design and marketing activity.
Juice Factory also provided supporting literature, photography, promotional material and creative direction, ensuring that the different communications remained visually consistent.
A Complete Creative Solution
The Warminster Maltings project demonstrates how a strong brand can be brought together across digital, print and photography.
From the website and online content to printed literature and imagery, every element was designed to reinforce the character and quality of the business.
